- 1 cup cooked chicken, finely diced (or use canned chicken for convenience)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 (8 oz) tube refrigerated Pillsbury crescent roll dough (8 count)
Preparing the Chicken Filling
Make the Creamy Base:In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, ¼ cup milk, and ½ cup of the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until smooth and creamy. Pour this mixture evenly into the bottom of your 8-inch baking dish. It forms a luscious sauce that the crescent rolls will bake in.
Prepare the Chicken Mixture:In a separate bowl, combine the cooked, finely diced chicken with the remaining ½ cup cheddar cheese. Stir until the chicken is well-coated with cheese — this will be the filling for your rolls.
Assembling the Crescent Rolls
Unroll the Dough:Open the crescent roll tube and separate the dough into 8 individual triangles.
Add the Filling:On the wide end of each triangle, place about 1–2 heaping tablespoons of the chicken mixture.
Roll It Up:Starting at the wide end, gently roll the dough toward the point, tucking in the edges slightly to hold the filling in place.
Arrange in the Dish:Place each crescent roll seam-side down into the creamy sauce in your baking dish. Arrange them evenly so they’re nestled together, but not overlapping.
